Earnest Nix

Funeral services for Earnest “Nick-Bone” Franklin Nix, 73, of Monticello were held April 29 at St. James A.M.E. Church with burial in South View Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Strozier officiated.
He died April 25.

Mr. Nix was born December 2, 1932 to the late Freddie and Dollie Mae Standifer Nix. He worked for K.C. Pope and was employed at Georgia Pacific until his retirement.

Nick-Bone could always be found early mornings and afternoons around 3 p.m. at Dave’s Barbecue.
A niece, Rose Nix, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Lizzie Nix of Monticello; niece, Ella Nix-Heath; cousin, Ulysses Carter of Monticello; family friends Dorothy Jean Phillips of Monticello, Rev. Gaddis Heath of Atlanta, George Nix and Jack Nix, both of Monticello, Betty Banks, Lula Gibbs, Louise King, Willie Ruth Gibson and Ruby Raines, all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Douglas Jackson of Augusta.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
