Michael Shane Blackmon, Sr.

Funeral services for Michael Shane Blackmon, Sr., 29, who died after a boating accident Sunday, are scheduled for today, April 20, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington.

Pastor Everett Leavell will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethel Christian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Blackmon was a lifelong resident of Conyers, and a member of Water Oak Baptist Church. He was employed by Affordable Fire Protection in Norcross. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. A real “outdoors person,” avid fisherman and hunter, Mr. Blackmon enjoyed riding four wheelers, was Nascar fan and enjoyed wrestling.

Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Janice Blackmon of Conyers; son, Michael Shane Blackmon, Jr., of Conyers; fiancee: Genia Delee of Conyers; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Jenie Blackmon of Conyers; brother, Jamie Blackmon of Conyers, grandfather, Robert E. Cobb of Monroe, and a number of other relatives.

Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington is in charge of arrangements.
