Deacon Frank A. Clemons

Funeral services for Deacon Frank A. Clemons, 71, will be held Wednesday, April 12 at Griggs Chapel A.M.E. Church in Monticello beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Reid Chapel Cemetery in Eatonton. The Rev. Robert Thurman will officiate.
He died April 6.

Mr. Clemons was born April 25, 1934 to the late David and Annie Clemons. He joined Reid Chapel Baptist Church at an early age where he served on the Deacon Board until his health failed.
Deacon Clemons was a World War II and Korean Conflict veteran. His hobby was fishing and he had a passion for playing the guitar.

For more than 40 years he played the guitar and sang with the Spiritual Faith gospel group in addition to several other groups. Over the past few years he played for the Healing Temple. His favorite songs included “Heaven Looking Down On Me,” and “Don’t Call the Roll Until I Get There.”

Two sisters, Annie Marks and Magnolia Martin, and three brothers, Johnnie A. Clemons, Eddie B. Clemons, and David E. Clemons, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include a special friend, Jessie Earley of Eatonton; three sisters, Maudie Fears of Athens, Ruth Stewart and Mattie Marks, both of Atlanta; sister-in-law, Everlena Clemons of Social Circle; devoted nephew and niece, Willie and Lucinda Martin; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
