‘Canes Win in Augusta

The Monticello ‘Canes baseball team traveled to Augusta on Tuesday, April 4, for their first game of the season against their region rival the Laney Wildcats, and defeated them 13-7.

The win was their second out of the last three games, and also their second region win, all after having lost three starters for the season.

Timely hitting enabled the ‘Canes to put some runs on the board and stay ahead the entire game. Caleb Reynolds drilled two doubles. Alex Jordan also had a double, and Ethan Huff and Mark Price both singled.

In a prior game on Friday, March 31, the team suffered a close loss to Greene County, 4-3. J.C. Dunagan pitched the entire game and took the loss, but did pick up two RBI’s when he singled in the first inning.

Caleb Reynolds got the other RBI when he singled in the fourth inning.

The ‘Canes were scheduled to play a non-region game on Wednesday, April 5, against the Jackson Red Devils in Jackson. They return to region play on Friday, April 7, when they travel to Madison for a game against Morgan County.

Jr. Varsity & Middle School

The JV ‘Canes lost 13-8 to GMC in Milledgeville on Wednesday, March 29.

They return from spring break to play Social Circle on April 12, in Social Circle at 4:30 p.m.

The Middle School ‘Canes played at home and defeated Greene County 2-1 on Friday, March 31.

In a prior game on March 29, they lost 8-3 to Loganville. Their next game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11 vs. Carver at home beginning at 4:30 p.m.
