Pleas Are Heard in Criminal Court

A criminal session of Jasper Superior Court convened on Monday, March 13 with Judge Hulane E. George, presiding.

Richard Lee Williams who was charged with interference with government property and obstruction of an officer was first on the trial calendar Tuesday after pleas were accepted Monday. After jury selection, he changed his mind and decided to plea.

Alan West Cox, who was charged with DUI alcohol, DUI less safe, striking a fixed object, and failure to maintain lane was found innocent of all charges.

A trial was originally scheduled for Jeffery Donald Day, charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of sawed-off shotgun, possession of firearm during commission of crime, and tail light violation. However, with two other trials before him that case ended up being continued.

Of the 129 cases on the calendar, 43 cases, the majority of which carried very serious charges, were granted a continuance.

Steven Richard Quillen, pled guilty to the charge of statutory rape and was sentenced four years to serve.

The following individuals, with charges as indicated, pled guilty and were sentenced to probation plus fines:

•Ronnie Lee Bryant—theft by taking, possession of methamphetamine, marijuana less than one ounce.

•Billy Gene Bell—simple battery, DUI alcohol.

•Michael Scott Bird—speeding, driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Samuel Earl Moyer—marijuana less than one ounce, driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Polly Ann Ross—simple battery.

•Catherine Louise English—DUI alcohol.

•Christine Elizabeth Burberry—simple battery.

•Jeaemell Antaum Colvard—sale of marijuana.

•Michael Burdette—theft by receiving stolen property, altered plate, remove/falsify identifying number with intent to conceal.

•Craig Whitfield—theft by receiving stolen property, altered plate (two counts), remove/falsify identifying number with intent to conceal.

•Ronald Wayne Gullett—suspended license, open container, reckless driving, DUI alcohol.

•Jonathan Wesley Barnes—simple battery.

•Willie Nelson Benjamin—theft by shoplifting, obstruction of officers.

•Elizabeth Ann Banks—battery misdemeanor.

•Brandon Sharad Ross—battery, obstruction of officer.

•Loree Myers—criminal trespass.

•Jason Daniel Payne—possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Chris Hooten—DUI alcohol.

•Thomas E. Patton, Jr.—possession of methamphetamine.

•Bench warrants were issued for the arrest of the following individuals for failure to appear on charges as follows:

•Kenneth Temple—two counts of aggravated assault upon peace officer, four counts of obstruction of officers-felony, simple battery, giving false name.

•Walker Dewayne Williams—driving without insurance.

•Roy Lee Ramey—arson first degree-felony, simple assault on peace officer.

•Jerry Edgar McClain, III—two counts of deposit account fraud.

•Joe Melvin Dempsey—possession of cocaine, DUI alcohol.

•Cedric Jerome Dudley—obstruction of officer.

•Novsakie Jermaine Wells—driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Johnny Ray Durrance—fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, no proof of insurance, driving while license suspended or revoked, reckless driving, two counts of failure to stop for stop sigh.

•Tameka Lachanda Pennamon—no proof of insurance.

•Shannon Lee Lane—possession of methamphetamine, no proof of insurance, improper tag, operating red lights without permit, driving while license suspended or revoked, open container violation.

•Natasha Chatman—four counts of executing/negotiating/printing of checks and drafts.

•Chad Edward Morris—aggravated assault.

•Richard David Hill—theft by taking.

•Debbie Jean Johnson—possession of cocaine.

•John Gregory Branham—simple assault, obstruction of officers, simple battery.

•Allen Hilton—battery.

•Eric Dewayne Walden—possession of methamphetamine, driving while license suspended or revoked, no proof of insurance.

The following cases were Dead Docketed, meaning that the charges will not be prosecuted at this time:

•Jerry Alvin Ray—cruelty to children.

•Bonnie Tillman—obstruction of officer.

•Lee Jones, Jr.—speeding.

•Otis Ammons—six counts of possession of cocaine, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, sale of cocaine, simple assault, terroristic threats.

•Roy Lee Holt—theft by receiving stolen property.

•Michael Rutherford—obstruction of officers, battery.

•Stacey Eugene Watson—obstruction of officer, possession of methamphetamine, safety belt violations.

•Vickie Lynn Middleton—deposit account fraud.

•David William Ellis—possession of methamphetamine, DUI methamphetamine, DUI marijuana, driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Chris Labriola-child molestation.

The following cases were nolle prossed, meaning the court will not prosecute.

•Terry Lenwood Parker—aggravated stalking.

•William Shawn Blackwell—simple battery, two counts cruelty to children.

•Walker Dewayne Williams—VGCSA-possession of cocaine.

•Jeffrey Guy Alverez—theft of services.

•James Andrew Hill-simple battery.

•Willie Benjamin—battery.

•Willie Charles Driskell—obstruction of officer.

•Ardrecus Rashard Banks—battery.

•Billy Lynn Johnson—theft by receiving stolen property.
