Young ‘Canes Begin Seasons

The Monticello Hurricane Jr. Varsity baseball team, coached by varsity assistant coach Brooke Adams, was to begin its season on Wednesday against Eastside in Covington.

Their second game is scheduled for Monday, March 6, vs. Baldwin in Milledgeville, and they will make their home debut vs. Eastside at 5:30 on Wednesday, March 8.

Team members are as follows: Will Bullard—second base/pitcher, Cody Batchelor—shortstop, Wayne Cronan—first base/pitcher, Jamie Watley—second base/pitcher, Wanza Hargrove—catcher, Clay Bishop—third base, Brandon Perry first base, Dejaneiro Warren—second base, Marty Bilbory—third base, and outfielders Brad Lynch, Clint Vaughn, and Justin Myers.

The ‘Cane Middle School team, coached by Trey Smith and assisted by Coach John Graybill, began its season by traveling to Morgan County on Tuesday, February 28, where they suffered a loss, 11-1.

Coach Smith said the team’s defense wasn’t that bad, Morgan was just overpowering with their bats and our team just couldn’t get theirs going.
Team members are as follows: Keaton Ring—short stop/pitcher, Colt Spivey—first base/catcher/pitcher, Cody Arnold—first base, Megan Kildahl—second base/catcher, Chris Sands—second base, Nick Johnston—second base, Shawn Sands—outfield/pitcher, T. J. Osborne—third/first base, and outfielders Matt Loftis, Wes Duvall, D.J. Wease, Tony Kildahl, Michael Kline, Murphy Mote-Patterson, and Adrian Campbell.
