Lady Wildcats Compete in SIAC Tournament

The Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats will play their first game of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women’s basketball tournament March 2 at 4 p.m.

The annual tournament began Wednesday in Birmingham, Al. at Fair Park Arena with 11 teams vying for the SIAC title.

The Lady Wildcats, including Akeila Tripp and Tracie Glawson, are 26-1 overall this season while going undefeated with 20 wins in the conference. Their record makes them the #1 seed and provided them a first round bye in the tournament.

They will play the winner of the #8 Lemoyne-Owen, 9-18, and #9 Kentucky State, 5-22. The Lady Wildcats defeated both opponents twice during the regular season.

The Lady Wildcats also enter the tournament with a #15 ranking in the latest USA Today/ESPN Division II Coaches’ Poll as well as being the #3 ranked team in the NCAA Division II South Region.
