Vernice McHugh

Vernice Lee Parr McHugh, 73, of Monticello, died Friday, Jan. 13, at Portsbridge Hospice in Macon.

Mrs. McHugh was born in Jackson County to the late Weslie and Helen Mae McCall Parr. She moved to Monticello more than 49 years ago. Her husband, William Judson “Mac” McHugh; and twin sister, Eunice Donahue, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and Baptist.

Survivors include her children, Ann Baxter of Monticello, Patricia Self of Juliette and Tina Hall of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Tonia Banks, Jenna Haddock, Blake Haddock, Tiffany Keldie, Heather Hall, Kerri Hall and Terry Hall; and brothers and sisters, Bennie Parr, Sammy Parr and Judy Herndon, all of Monroe, Margaret Hartwell of Eatonton, Betty Clarke of Port Riche, Fla., Willie Strickland of DeLand, Fla. and Joyce Shepherd of Athens.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home with burial in West View Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Roper officiating.

Pallbearers are Carl White, Drew Logue, Kyle Bruce, Charles Clay, Charlie Clay and Terry Hall.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
