Lillie Fairclough
Funeral services for Lillie Barron Fairclough were held January 16 at Crossroad C.M.E. Church with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hillsboro. The Elder Joe Lewis Ridley officiated.
She died January 9.
Mrs. Fairclough was born October 16, 1942 in Jasper County as the fourth of seven children born to Minnie and Benjamin Barron. She was a member of Cross Lands A.M.E. Church and completed school at Jasper County High School. After graduation she moved to New York where she lived with her aunt, Bertha Johnson.
She settled in Brooklyn and joined the Holy House of Prayer Church where she met and married her husband, Castel Fairclough. She joined the Historic First Church of God in Christ in 1998.
Mrs. Fairclough worked at United Health Care and the New York City Board of Education, P.S. 272 in Brooklyn for 22 years.
In addition to her husband survivors include her daughter, Monique Fairclough; stepchildren, Bromley, Jasmin, Lavern, Chris and their children; sisters, Vernice Battle and Jessie Ross; brother, Bernice Barron; special niece, Sheila Barron; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; a devoted friend, Lillie Willis; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
