Mrs. Frances Walker Jordan

Mrs. Frances Walker Jordan, 82, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Monticello, Mrs. Jordan was the daughter of the late James Nathaniel Walker and Lucye Benton Walker. She was married to E. Glover Jordan Jr. for 59 years.

She was a member of Monticello Methodist Church until marriage when she joined Monticello Presbyterian Church. She was active during her church years as Sunday school teacher, choir member, president of the women of the church, and elder.

Mrs. Jordan graduated from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville with a degree in education. She taught elementary and high school in the Jasper County schools for 23 years, most of these as a third grade teacher.

She also spent a number of years coaching high school girls basketball. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, John Hunter Jordan.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, are sons and daughters-in-law, James Glover and Mary Lou Jordan and Steven Walker and Lynne Jordan, all of Monticello; sister, Virginia Benton Walker of Monticello; grandchildren, Jessalyn Alexander of Sandersville, Nathan Jordan of Decatur, Walker Jordan of Macon, Lucye Jordan of Atlanta and Bonner Jordan of Auburn, Ala.; and great-granddaughter, Mary Preston Alexander.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at Monticello Presbyterian Church, with burial in West View Cemetery. The Revs. Malcolm Davis and Phillip Dennis will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Dec. 29, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to the Monticello Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 308, Monticello, GA 31064 or the Hurricane Booster Club, c/o Phillip Jordan, 3943 Perimeter Rd. Monticello, GA 31064.
