Charges Are Brought for School Absences
In the case of Jasper County Board of Education vs. Sherry Ann Caso, enough probable cause was shown to have an arrest warrant issued for Ms. Caso charging her with two counts of violation of the code for mandatory education for minors.
The same charge against Lori and Joseph Little, and David and Dana Pickett were put into abeyance, giving them the opportunity to remedy the situation.
Enough probable cause was also shown to issue an arrest warrant for Kerry Whitley Cherry charged with nonpayment of child support, and for John Henke charged with theft by taking, a felony.
The action came during a recent session of Jasper County Magistrate Court.

In other crime related information, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests made during the period of December 12-19:
•Stoney Anthony Reese, Monticello—improper tag, driving while license suspended or revoked, no insurance, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer.
•Travis Caldwell Lee, Locust Grove—possession of firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana (less than 1 oz).
•Mark Anthony Johnson, Mansfield—burglary, probation violation.
•Marvis Armel Wyman, Monticello—cruelty to children, simple battery.
•Sherry Ann Caso, Mansfield—mandatory education violation.
•Timothy Scott Park, Monticello—window tint violation, driving on a suspended or revoked license.
•Kenneth Gene Overby, Monticello—child support.
•Norris Eugene Smith, Monticello—driving on a suspended or revoked license, loud music violation.
•Luke Stephen Ruckel, Mansfield—simple battery.
•Danielle Nicole Miller, Monticello—simple battery.
Also during this period, deputies with JCSO served eight warrants and 17 civil processes. They conducted 10 traffic stops resulting in nine warnings and five citations, and responded to 120 calls for service as follows:
•Fourteen suspicious person/vehicle, 11 subject needs officer, 10 each activated alarm and traffic accident, eight assist motorist/keys, seven domestic argument, seven assist motorist/other, six each livestock/carcass on road and theft.
•Four each, dog complaint, juvenile complaint, transport; three each, burglary, road hazard, abandoned vehicle, assist EMS; two each, intoxicated driver, threatening/harassing phone calls, vandalism, trespassing, discharge firearms.
•One each, speeding auto, escort, missing person, trouble unknown, argument, person refusing to leave, 911 hang-up.
