Mary Jo Bassett

Funeral services for Mary Jo Blanton Bassett, 78, were held April 2 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home with burial in West View Cemetery in Monticello. The Rev. Randy Reese officiated.
She died March 30 at the Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Bassett was born in Colquitt County to the late Exie Blanton and Fleeta Lewis Blanton. She lived in DeKalb County for a number of years before moving to Jasper County ten years ago.
She was a 50-year former member of Glazener Primitive Baptist Church and a member of Trinity Mission Baptist Church as well as the Pinehill Garden Club in DeKalb County.
Before retirement, she was a real estate agent for Century 21.
Survivors include her husband, John Wesley Bassett, Jr. of Monticello; children, Angie Jones of Huntsville, Al., Wesley Bassett of Social Circle, and David Bassett and Melissa Thomason, both of Monticello; grandchildren, Cammie Felix, Cassandra Jones, Damon Jones and Alicia Bassett; great-grandchildren, Katie Felix, Mary Leigh Felix and Emily Felix; and brother, Larry Blanton of Athens, Al.
Serving as pallbearers were Ralph Gunn, Allen Small, Robert Prince and Kenneth Mason.
The family suggests memorials to the Retreat Nursing Home, 898 College St., Monticello, GA 31064.
Jordan Funeral Home of Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
