Mary Ruth Ridley

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ruth Ridley were held December 15, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Eatonton with burial in Shoal Creek Cemetery in Locust Grove. The Rev. Jeffery Wimbush officiated. She died December 10.

Mrs. Ridley was born in July, 1936 to the late Carthis Jackson and Annie Lee Grier Jackson. She was raised in Monticello and educated in the Jasper County School System.

In 1959 she married Edward Riley and to this union were born two children. The family moved to Hartford, Ct. and remained there until her husband’s death at which time she moved back to Jasper County. Affectionately known as “Sister” she joined Greenwood Baptist Church in Shady Dale.

Survivors include a daughter and son, Diane Ridley and Edward Ridley, Jr., both of Farrar; four brothers, Willie C. Jackson, Sam Jackson, both of Monticello, James Jackson of Newborn, and Johnnie Jackson of Farrar; sister, Annie Lee Thomas of Monticello; grandchildren, Tamaya Holloman, Eddric Ridley and Deddrie Ridley; great-grandchildren, Tonasia and Malasia Holloman, all of Coving-ton; daughter-in-law; brother-in-law; sisters-in-law; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
