Otis Elwood Stephens

Otis Elwood Stephens, 81, of Turtle Cove, died Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Mr. Stephens was born in Sumter, S.C., and was raised in Gainesville. His parents were the late Wilbert Charles Stephens and Robie Luebelle Herrin Stephens. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and took part in the invasion of Normandy.

He worked in the truck industry as a manager and retired from Signal Transport in Doraville.

His wife, Eunice Alice Evans Stephens, preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Guy Stephens, Leon Stephens, and Lewis Stephens, and his sisters, Emline West, Willie Cantrell, Havis Moore and Artense Ledford.

Survivors include his sons, Miles Stephens of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii and Mark Stephens of Carmel, Ind.; grandchildren, Greg Stephens, Alexander Stephens, T.J. Stephens and Evan Stephens; and great-grandchild, Sidney Stephens.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 21, at 10:30 a.m., at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello.
