Coy Goodman
Former Monticello Fire Chief George Coy Goodman, Sr., 64, died suddenly Monday at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Coy Goodman was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. His parents were the late George Thomas Goodman and Mary Helen Marchman Goodman. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
He retired from the City of Monticello as Fire Chief after more than 10 years of service. He owned and operated the Monticello Electric Company from 1982-1992. He was a truck driver for Propane Gas Services for more than 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Cordelia Nelson Goodman of Monticello; children, George Goodman and Matt Goodman of Monticello and Nancie Goodman of Norcross; grandchildren, Christy Goodman and Chad Hunt; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held yesterday, Feb. 11, at Enon Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Chris Allen officiated.
Pallbearers were Mike “Bubba” Nelson, Jr., Leo Nelson, Jones Nelson, J.T. Goodman, Walt Nelson, Christopher Hooberry, Chad Hunt, and Danny Camp.
Honorary pallbearers were the Monticello Fire Department.

Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
