Mrs. Barbara Jean Pope

Mrs. Barbara Jean Franklin Pope, 70, of Monticello, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church in Monticello, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Charles Roper will officiate.

Mrs. Pope was born in Clarke County. She lived in Eatonton before moving to Jasper County in 1960. Her parents were the late Lucius Franklin and Margaret and Harvey Hathaway.

She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked with the Eatonton hospital. She retired as a school bus driver for the Jasper County Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Wood Pope, Sr., of Monticello; children and spouses, Margaret and Frank Morris of Jamestown, N.C., Mike and Tammy Welch, Lonnie W. Pope, Jr., and Bobbi Jean and Lance Collins, all of Monticello; and grandchildren, Lonni Jordana Pope and Lucas Morris.

Pallbearers will be Gabe Stone, Rocky Nelson, Tony Hood, Jason Pope, Jacob Peope, and Donnie Pope.
