Marcello “Spote” LaVaughn
Funeral services for Marcello “Spote” Tavares LaVaughn, 25, were held Tuesday at Springfield Baptist Church. The Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated.
He died November 26 in an automobile accident.
Mr. LaVaughn was born March 7, 1978 to Wylene Smith-Brown and Charles Trent LaVaughn in Covington. The 1997 graduate of Southwest Dekalb High School in Decatur was a member of Springfield Baptist Church in Monticello. He was employed by Guardian Automotive in Covington.
In addition to his parents survivors include his daughter, Monika Pruitt; sister, Natasha Smith; brother, Clinton LaVaughn; stepmother, Shirley LaVaughn; stepfather, Danny Brown; step-brothers, Derrick Lewis, Desmond Brown, and Danny Brown, Jr.; stepsister, Deja’ Brown; grandparents, Charles and Inell LaVaughn; aunts, Louella Smith, Hattie Smith, Annie E. Langford, Victoria Glawson, Sarah A. Brown and Tara Stewart; uncles, Alvin LaVaughn, John Wesley, Jr., Franklin Smith, Robert Smith, Ralph Smith, Kenneth Smith, James Smith, and Scotty Smith; girlfriend, Cawanna Hardeman; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Andre Brown, Howard Chester, Fred Hardeman, Franklin Smith, John W. Smith, Jr., Scotty Smith and Alvarez Thomas.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
