Mrs. Jessie Loraine McMichael Grubbs

Jessie Loraine McMichael Grubbs, 89, of Monticello, died Wednesday, November 26, at Portsbridge Hospice in Macon.

Mrs. Grubbs was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Charlie Otis McMichael and Fairy Temperance Holloway McMichael. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener.

Mrs. Grubbs worked for the Monticello Bobbin Company, Monticello Manufacturing and Avondale Mills in Jackson. Her husband, Willie Tom Grubbs, a granddaughter, Susan Smith, and a daughter-in-law, Genevieve Grubbs, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Charles Edwin Grubbs of Black-shear, Sara and Bill Shields of Sandy, Ore., Juanita and James Biles of Jackson and Franklin and Emma Lou Grubbs of McDon-ough; grandchildren, Patti Griner, Michael Grubbs, Thomas Shields, Debra Biles Kirby, Lawrence Biles, Ashley Grubbs, and Chuck Grubbs; great-grandchildren, Shae Hendry, Corbin Griner, Eric Griner, Christie Grubbs, Jeremy Grubbs, Karee Grubbs, Jennifer Shields, Alex Shields, Chatham Schneider, Jake Schneider, Lauren Biles, Olivia Biles, Shelbi Grubbs, Alex Grubbs, Cathy Postier, and Jessica Postier; and two brothers, Felton McMichael of Monticello and Speights McMichael of West Falmouth, Mass.

Funeral services were to be held Sunday, November 30, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello with burial in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery in Monticello. The Rev. Chris Allen was to officiate.

Pallbearers were Lawrence Biles, Ashley Grubbs, Chuck Grubbs, Tim Griner, Keith Hendry, and Roger Kirby.

The family suggests memorials to the Enon Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 265, Monticello, GA 31064.

Jordan Funeral Home of Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
