Robert Parks
John Robert Parks, 83, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.
Robert Parks was a native of Taylor County. He lived in Macon before moving to Jasper County 50 years ago. His parents were the late Washington Perry Parks and Emily Cook Parks.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church and served as deacon for 46 years.
Mr. Parks was a member of the Jasper County Masonic Lodge #50 F&AM and the Hillsboro Coffee Club. He served on the Jasper County Board of Education from 1962 until 1977. He worked for the General Box Company in Macon for 37 years and at retirement was Plant Superintendent.
He later retired after 15 years of service from the Hillsboro Post Office as relief postmaster.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Folendore Parks of Hillsboro; children, Jeannine Tabor of Byron and Perry Parks of Jones County; grandchildren, Sam Tabor, Dawn Alday, Christie Parks, and Rob Parks; great-grandchildren, Brittany Tabor, Lance Tabor, Dusty Ratterree, Savanna Alday, Joshua Alday, and Brynson Alday; and brothers and sisters, George Parks of Macon, Dale Parks and Lucy Clark of Butler and Mary Parks of Byron.
Funeral services were to be held Friday, Nov. 21, at Hillsboro Baptist Church, burial in Fullerton Memorial Gardens in Hillsboro. The Rev. Stan Patterson was to officiate.
Pallbearers are Bobby Clark, Bobby Peed, Roger Clark, Ronny Clark, Scooter England, Randy England, Robby England, and Fred Parks.
The family suggests memorials to the Hillsboro Baptist Church, 2326 Hwy 11 south, Hillsboro, Ga. 31038 in lieu of flowers.
