GHSA Teams Volley for Playoff Spot

The high school football regular season is winding down as teams continue jockey for playoff position.

This weekend, while Monticello (4-4) travels to Wilkinson County (2-7), Morgan County (7-1) goes to Washington-Wilkes (6-3) with the region 7-AA title on the line. Putnam County (4-4) plays at Hancock Central (1-6-1) and Greene County (6-3) is on the road against Oglethorpe County (1-8).

Other games of interest in the area this weekend include Jackson (7-2) at Macon County (8-1) for the region 4-AA regular season title. Newton County (6-3) tries to clinch a playoff berth on the road against Cedar Shoals (7-1), Eastside (3-5) hosts Heritage (5-4) and Rockdale County (3-5) goes north to take on Habersham Central (1-8).
Last week in region 7-AA, while Monticello lost to Greene County, Putnam County surprised Washington-Wilkes 27-21, Morgan County beat Wilkinson County 35-14, and Hancock County defeated Oglethorpe County 44-6.
Other results from the area last weekend included Newton County blanking Loganville 31-0, Heritage over Rockdale County 28-7, Clarke Central over Eastside 35-19, and Jackson with a 49-10 win over Tri-County.
