Piedmont put the first points of the game on the board with a 40-yard halfback pass from Christopher Hornibrook to Kale Blackshear. JV coach Chip Champion praised Blackshear for his contributions this season.
“Kale has been a player who has helped us at several positions,” Champion said. “He started at quarterback then went to running back and now to receiver. He has been a big factor in our success.”
Hornibrook had another big performance as well for the JV Cougars scoring two touchdowns. Justin Atkins added the other score for Piedmont, who is now 5-1-1.
Fullington scored its lone touchdown in the third quarter, but Champion’s team was in control throughout. The JV Cougars even had two other potential scores called back because of penalties.
“We’ve been ready to play the last few games,” the coach said.
“Fullington had actually had more size than us. It was a hard-hitting game.”
Piedmont will close out the season today against Gatewood in Eatonton at 6 p.m.
“If we can win against Gatewood then we would finish with a very impressive record,” Champion said.
“Win or lose, we have already beaten several good teams and have a lot to proud of.”
