Tyrone Scott Dennis

Funeral services for Tyrone Scott Dennis, 38, were held September 20 at St. James A.M.E. Church with burial in South View Cemetery. The Rev. Grady Head officiated.

He died September 17 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta.

Mr. Dennis was born April 17, 1965 to Willie Lee and Annie Ruth Dennis of Monticello. He joined Philadelphia Baptist Church at an early age.
He was a 1984 graduate of Jasper County High School and a 20 year employee of Georgia Pacific in Monticello.

One brother, Timothy B. Dennis, and his grandfather, John Whitlow, preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Sheila Dennis; two daughters, Sakhya Dennis and Shante Pitts; stepchildren, Tierra, Indian, Darnell, and Octavious, all of Monticello; three brothers, Anthony R. Dennis of Eatonton, Shan Thurman of Conyers, and Emmanuel Beasley of Atlanta; two sisters, Breneika Dennis of Monticello and Lisa Beasley of Jackson; grandmothers, Julia Mae Dennis and Marie Whitlow, both of Monticello; aunts and uncles, EuDorthy Carter, Patricia Clark, Wylean Jordan, Roosevelt Dennis, all of Monticello; Deborah Hardeman of Covington, Eddie Whitlow of Detroit, Mich., Michael Whitlow of Dalton, Lillian Kate Ware of Opelika, Al., Mary Julia West of Atlanta, Katherine Whitlow of Lanett, Al., Dolly Joe Gotel of Cliffordwood, N.J., and Lucille Ponder of Juliette; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Calvin Stone, Patrick Norwood, Douglas Standifer, Derwin Jackson, Maurice Davis, Roylee Robinson, Joe Tripp, Alonzo Vinson, and Shawn Epps.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
