Carden “Jack” Goolsby
Carden Jackson “Jack” Goolsby, Jr., 92, of Neptune Beach, Fla. died Tuesday, August 19, at the Atrium at Regency in Jacksonville.
Jack Goolsby was born in Jasper County. His parents were the late Carden Jackson Goolsby, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Sammons Goolsby. He lived in Augusta for a number of years before moving to the Jacksonville, Fla. area in 1956. He worked as a district manager for Armour & Co. for more than 25 years and was known as an award-winning salesman in the Southeastern area.
Before retirement he owned 19 service stations and the Jacksonville Beaches’ heating and air conditioning company. He served in the National Guard. He was well-known for his charitable contributions in the Jacksonville Beaches area.
His wife, Helen Hutchison Goolsby preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, Helen Jetta Goolsby of Jacksonville, Fla. and Cherry Elizabeth Goolsby Noble of Live Oaks, Fla.; grandchildren, Carden Brown, Kelly Brown, Curtis Brown, Clay Brown and Chip Brown; and a number of great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at the Carden Goolsby Cemetery on Goolsby Road in Monticello. Dr. Kerry Bunn will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.
