Sammy Gunn, Jr.

Funeral services for Sammy Gunn, Jr., 59, of Salt Lake City, Utah, were held May 27 at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in West View Cemetery. The Rev. Charlie Edwards officiated.
He died May 22 at his residence.

Mr. Gunn was born in Jasper County to the late Sammy, Sr. and Vernie Frances Garner Gunn. He lived in Monticello, where he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, before moving to Salt Lake City 20 years ago.

Mr. Gunn was employed for a number of years as a heavy equipment operator for the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Survivors include his son, Samuel G. Gunn of Jackson; sisters, Hazel Frix of Chiefland, Fla., Barbara Ogletree of Conyers and Bonnie Wingate of Monticello; nieces and nephews, Gwen Tremblay, Garry Massey, Cindy Williams, Mark J. Ogletree, Cozette Jones, Greg Wingate and Scott Wingate; and three great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jack Bailey, Kenneth Tillman, Walter Tillman, Dick Morgan, Larry Williams and Jerry Slocumb.

The family suggests memorials to the Bethel Baptist Church, c/o Mrs. Sara Cason, 1255 Cason Road, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
