GHSA Teams Jockey for Position
Teams with postseason hopes are now jockeying for playoff position as the second half of the high school football season continues.
This weekend, while Monticello (4-3) plays host to Greene County (5-3), Region 7-AA leader Washington-Wilkes (6-2) will visit Putnam County (3-4). Morgan County (6-1) hosts Wilkinson County (2-6), and Oglethorpe County (1-7) plays at Hancock County (0-6-1).

Other games of interest in the area this weekend include Jackson (6-2) at home against Tri-County (2-6), Newton County (5-3) hosts Loganville (2-5), Rockdale County (3-4) visits Heritage (4-4) and Eastside (3-4) will travel to Athens for a second consecutive game, this time to take on Clarke Central (6-1).
Last week in region 7-AA, while Monticello lost to Morgan County, Washington-Wilkes remained unbeaten in the region with a 32-6 win over Hancock County, Putnam County won its third consecutive game, upsetting Greene County 35-5, and Wilkinson County blanked Oglethorpe County 40-0.
Other results from the area last weekend included a 56-20 homecoming win for Jackson over Crawford County, Newton County 35-7 over Habersham Central, and Rockdale County over Jackson County 29-14.
