The high school football season rolls into its final week with some teams still working to improve their playoff position while others rest and prepare for the post-season.

This weekend, while Monticello (5-4) plays host to Hancock County (1-7-1), Morgan County (8-1) welcomes Putnam County (5-4) with the winner claiming the region 7-AA regular season title and the loser taking the second playoff spot from the region.

The rest of the region 7-AA teams have completed their regular season schedule with Washington-Wilkes (6-4) and Greene County (7-3) securing the third and fourth playoff spots from the region.
Other games of interest in the area this weekend include Rockdale County (3-6) hosting Loganville (3-6), Eastside (3-6) is at home against Salem (4-5).

Last week in region 7-AA, while Monticello beat Wilkinson County, Greene County clinched a playoff berth with a 42-14 win over Oglethorpe County, Putnam County earned at least a first-round home playoff game with a 40-14 win over Hancock County and Morgan County remained unbeaten in the region with a 28-6 victory over Washington-Wilkes.

Other results from the area last weekend saw Jackson (8-2) winning the region 4-AA regular season title with a 7-6 victory over Macon County.

Newton County clinched a playoff berth win a 20-16 upset on the road against Cedar Shoals, Rockdale County fell to Habersham Central 28-23, and Heritage blasted Eastside 69-20.
