Pearley Rutherford

Pearley Varnel Rutherford, 78, of Shady Dale, died Monday, Dec. 8, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Shady Dale, with the Rev. Bobby Sauls officiating.

He was a native of Robbinsville, N.C., and he lived in Gainesville before moving to Jasper County in 1964. His parents were the late Jeff Rutherford and Frankie Rutherford. Before retirement he logged for Pope Brothers Logging.

His children, Rickey Rutherford, and Shirley Jean Rutherford, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his special friend, Rebecca Smith of Shady Dale; children, Martha Pope, Michael Rutherford and Donald O’Bryon of Monticello, Johnny Rutherford of Eatonton, Robin Rutherford of Columbus, Wade O’Bryon of Rutledge, and Wanda McGiboney of Covington; sister, Everly Rutherford of Robbinsville, N.C.; 24 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 P.M. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Jordan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were to be Charles D. Smith, Robby Wyatt, Gary Jordan, William Rutherford, James Pope, and Bobby McCullum.
