Alberta Smith

Funeral services for Alberta “Miss Flug” Pressley Smith were held January 30 at St. James A.M.E. Church with burial in South View Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Spencer L. Booker officiated.
She died January 24.

Mrs. Smith was born August 31, 1911 to the late Anna Singleton and Joe Pressley in Brunswick. She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church. She was a homemaker who loved to cook for family and friends. She was known for homemade German chocolate and caramel cakes. She was married to the late Percy Smith, Sr. for 60 years.

Her children, Percy Smith, Jr. and Sarah Standifer, and siblings, Coy Singleton and Flossie Candies, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Smith of Monticello and Frederick Smith of New York; special niece, Carolyn Thurman of Monticello; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Ernie Gregory Banks, Andre Brown, Bruce Glover, Frederick Marks, Percy Pierre Smith, III, and Williams Dewayne Standifer.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
