Alma Willis
Funeral services for Alma Thomas Willis were held February 7 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Shady Dale with burial in the Eatonton City Cemetery. The Rev. Joe L. McKibben officiated.
She died February 2.
Mrs. Willis was born July 11, 1936 in Putnam County to the late Everlena Lawson Thomas and RichmondThomas, Jr. She attended Brown Chapel School and joined Brown Chapel Church at a young age. She later joined Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Her family moved to Jasper County where she met her husband, Charlie Willis, Jr. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to work in her garden.
Three brothers, Millard Thomas, Richmond Thomas III and Joe Louis Thomas, and two grandchildren, Chasity N. Willis and Jeremy C. Miller preceded her in death.
In addition to her husband survivors include her children Charles Willis and Carol Miller, all of Monticello; brother, Walker Thomas of Eatonton; sisters, Dorothy Mae Ammons, Regina Gotel, and Eunice Smith, all of Monticello; nine grandchildren, Frederico Willis, Freddie Willis, Bradford Willis, Sarah Willis, Bridgette Miller, Brittany Miller, Akeem Miller, Rahshad Miller, and Montel Miller; great-grandchild, Ja’Vonquavious Willis; aunt, Ola Kate Gates; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
