Mary Jeffrey

Mary Edna Short Jeffrey, 87, of Monticello, died Monday, March 1, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Jeffrey lived in Clay County, West Virginia before moving to Monticello about eight years ago. She was a Baptist. Her parents were the late Hays Short and Lettie Byrd Short. Her husband, Jim Jeffrey, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Larry E. Jeffrey of Clay County, W.Va., James H. Jeffrey of Elk Hunt, Ind., Betty White of New York, Janet Medford of West Virginia, Frankie Drennen of Cleveland, Ohio, Linda Layton of Hillsboro, and Judy Compton of Monticello; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; brother, Junior Short of East Bank, West Virginia; and sister, Patricia Duncan of Monticello.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Fidler and Frame Funeral Home in Belle, W.Va., with burial in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens in Glasgow, W.Va. The Rev. Mike Quinn will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Fidler and Frame Funeral Home, 1126 E. Dupont Avenue, Belle, W.Va.
