Dwight Lee Evans

Dwight Lee Evans, 67, of Palatka, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 28, at the Putnam Community Medical Center in Palatka, Fla.

Mr. Evans was born in Acworth. He lived in Monticello for a number of years before moving to Palatka eight years ago. His parents were the late Herbert Clay Evans and Ida Maureen Smith Evans. He was an Army veteran of 14 years and served in the Vietnam Conflict. Before retirement, he was a self-employed truck driver. His brothers, James Evans and Robert Evans, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Lydia Goolsby of Monticello; sons, Markus Evans of Sarasota, Fla. and Dwight Evans, Jr. of Dexter, N.Y.; grandchildren, Mary Gonyou, Alex Evans and Joshua Evans; and brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Patricia Evans of Palatka, Fla.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at West View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Jordan Funeral Home.

The family suggests donations to Jordan Funeral Home in lieu of flowers. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
