Cane Spring Sports Begin
Winter sports concluded with the basketball season and with Spring just around the corner so are a whole new season of school sports.
Hurricane baseball is slated to begin next week with the varsity squad set to host Lamar County on Tuesday, March 1 and Jackson next Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m. at the high school field.
The team will once again be coached by Doug Huff and assisted by Chris Jenkins, Brook Adams, and Trey Smith.
Junior varsity baseball will begin Monday, March 1 with a road game at Northeast. The team, coached by Mr. Adams, is scheduled to play 10 competitors.
Tennis is also slated to begin Monday, March 7 at Jackson. The schedule thus far is tentative, according to athletic director Huff, because several of the region participants do not have tennis teams. Jamey Richardson will coach the Hurricane squad.
The sports of track & field and golf are both scheduled to start on Monday, March 14. The girls and boys track teams, led by Dionka Jackson and Robert Ingram, will travel to Jackson High School. Meanwhile the golf team will face Greene on the road.
