Thurman & the Bengals Suffer First NFL Loss of the Season
And then there was one.
One undefeated team in the NFL after Week 5 and unfortunately it wasn’t Odell Thurman and the Cincinnati Bengals though they made an honest go of it Sunday night in a packed Alltel Stadium, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
A field of five undefeated teams dwindled to one—the Indianapolis Colts—after the NFL concluded action Sunday night.
The Bengals-Jaguars matchup was one of the last competitions of the evening with the Bengals looking to add another historical victory to the franchise’s best start in decades. But alas it wasn’t to be.

Despite the 20-23 loss, rookie Thurman led the Bengal defense in tackles with 7.
The starting middle linebacker also threw a few retaliation punches to an opposing lineman during an on-field pileup following a play. It didn’t amount to much for the Bengals but it created a penalty for the Jaguars.
The Bengals, without three starters playing Sunday including a wide receiver and two defensive linemen, will take to the road this Sunday to face the Tennessee Titans.
