Several Arrested in Jasper

Mark Anthony Johnson of Bear Creek Point was arrested on Tuesday for attempted burglary. The perpetrator was surprised in the act by the homeowner and ran from the scene on foot. Deputies from Newton and Jasper Counties responded and pursued him.

He was later apprehended when he turned himself in at his residence. In other crime related news, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests during the period of December 5-12:

•William Andrew Pettit and Dean Johnson White, both of Social Circle, Kurt Jordan Hester of Covington, and Jimmy Neal Patton of Newborn—hunting deer at night, hunting from a motor vehicle, hunting from a public road.

•Larry Wayne Byrd, Monticello—Probate Court bench warrant.

•Thomas Alvin Stewart, Monticello—probation violation.

•Terrance Dantes Thomas, Macon—Probate Court bench warrant.

•Charles Edward Betsill, Eagles Landing—hold for Henry County.

•Jesus Bautista, Monticello—right of way in crosswalk, obstruction or hindering of law enforcement, public drunk.

Also during this period, deputies with JCSO served seven warrants and 32 civil processes. They conducted 14 traffic stops resulting in 10 warnings and four citations and responded to 84 calls for service as follows:

•Ten activated alarm, eight traffic accident, eight subject needs officer, five assist motorist/keys, four escort, four abandoned vehicle, three burglaries.

•Six each, suspicious person/vehicle, assist motorist/other, theft, transport.

•Two each, speeding auto, threatening/harassing phone call, argument, assist EMS.

•One each, prowler, livestock/carcass in roadway, fire, extra patrol, 4-wheeler complaint, juvenile complaint, found property, vandalism, road hazard, 911-hangup.
