Allan Platt

Funeral services for Allan Fleury Platt of Monticello were held January 7 at Tom Wages Funeral Service, Snellville Chapel with interment at Eternal Hills Memory Garden. The Dr. Ronald Harvard officiated.

He died January 3 after a battle with ALS.
Mr. Platt was born to Marjorie Belle Fleury and Alanson E. Platt, Sr. in 1923 in Highgate Springs, Vermont. He was a WWII Army veteran and graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.

While in the hospital for an acute illness he met his wife, Sara, who was his nurse. They married in 1950.

He was employed as a civil engineer for 30 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until retirement. During that time he assisted with long range and immediate planning for NASA at Cape Canaveral and spent 11 years working with the Corps in the Canal Zone in Panama.

After retirement, he and his wife moved to Turtle Cove where he built a home and was a participant on the water board. He had also served on the Jasper County Water & Sewer Authority.
His wife, brother Alanson E. Platt, Jr., and sisters, Molly and Jean, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include two sons, Allan Platt and Bob Platt; five grandchildren, Allison, Beth Ann, Melissa, Becky, and Benjamin; and several other family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Shepherd’s Lambs Ministry, P.O. Box 996, Englewood, Fla. 34295.
