Circle K Is Robbed
An armed robbery took place at approximately 12:20 a.m. Monday morning at the Circle K Convenience Store located at the junction of Hwys. 16 and 212.
Two masked suspects entered the store with one of them brandishing a shotgun. One of them jumped behind the counter and made threatening demands to the cashier. They took an undisclosed amount of cash, lottery tickets and other miscellaneous items before making their get away on foot into the woods north of the store. No detailed description of the suspects was available except that they were completely masked.
The cashier on duty at the time, Dominick James declined to be interviewed. His mother informed us by phone, “Dominick does not want to talk to anyone about that.”
A small amount of cash, and a large stack of lottery tickets were recovered in the woods where the suspects fled to. Also, several pieces of evidence were found including a pair of muddy shoes and another single shoe where the suspects literally ran out of them in the muddy woods.
In addition, a unique black baseball cap with a large, shiny New York Yankees logo on the front of it was found. These pieces of evidence has been turned over to the GBI who will run DNA tests on the hat and search for finger prints on the lottery tickets.
