Grand Jury Indicts 27

A Jasper County Grand Jury convened Monday, Feb. 13, along with a civil session of Jasper Superior Court with the Honorable Hulane E. George presiding.

The grand jury returned 27 true bills of indictment as follows:
•Kent Raymond Morris, Jr., sale of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine, possession of firearm during commission of a crime.
•Quana Neile Griggs, sale of cocaine, possession of firearm during commission of a crime.
•Kay Crowe, possession of methamphetamine with intent, possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

•Jerry L. Crowe, possession of firearms by convicted felon, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of methamphetamine with intent, cancellation of certificate of title, transfer of vehicle generally, used motor vehicle parts dealer without license, used motor vehicle dealer without license.

•Bart Wesley Ray, possession of methamphetamine with intent, possession of marijuana with intent, tampering with evidence, obstruction of officer.
•Jeremy Joiner, possession of methamphetamine with intent, possession of marijuana with intent, obstruction of officer, possession of firearm during commission of crime, going inside guard lines with drugs.

•Christopher C. Farrar, Violation of the Georgia Controled Substance Act (VGCSA), possession of firearms by convicted felon, simple battery, interfering with 911 call.

•Donald Smith, VGCSA.
•Quincy Cornelius Griggs, VGCSA.
•Bridgette Greene, six counts of financial identity fraud.

•Chad Edward Morris, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of motor vehicle with ID removed.
•David Jason Green, two counts of burglary.
•Daryelle Chappell, burglary, harassing phone calls.

•George Alvin Walker, burglary.
•David Joiner, terroristic threats and acts.
•Mark P. Heinz, terroristic threats and acts, reckless conduct.
•Robert Anderson, Jr., terroristic threats and acts.

•Waldo Brown, possession of firearm by convicted felon.
•Lonnie Delee, hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal, obstruction of officers.
•Bobby G. Strickland, aggravated assault.
•Obie Lucky, aggravated assault.

•Tiffany Ray, cruelty to children in the first degree, interfering with 911 call, simple battery.
•Ricky Daniel Still, forgery in the first degree.
•Timothy Bo Reese, driving while habitual violator.
•Brigette T. Ross, hindering apprehension of a criminal.

•Charleston Russell, obstruction of officer.
•Barbara Dianne Ray, bringing items within guard lines of jail.
•Joseph Frank Lawson, III, dumping dead dog on public property, theft by taking, possession of firearm by convicted felon.

•Christina L. Washington, interference with government property, simple battery.
•Dexter Lane, possession of firearm by convicted felon.

An indictment does not indicate guilt; it merely says there is enough evidence to take the case to Superior Court where it may be settled with a plea bargain or taken to trial.

•Also, the Grand Jury returned six “No Bills,” meaning there was not sufficient evidence to indict, as follows:
•Walker D. Williams, III, aggravated assault.
•Priscilla Clemons, aggravated assault.

•John Henke, theft by taking.
•Dexter Lane, reckless conduct.
•Joseph Frank Lawson, III, aggravated cruelty to animals.
•Christina L. Washington, criminal trespass.

In addition, on the Superior Court Civil Calendar, the case of Jasper County Curbside vs. Monticello Police Chief Danny Norris scheduled for jury trial was settled.
Chief Norris agreed to pay $301.35, which represents full payment of the curbside billing dispute.
