Mary Jo LaVaughn

Funeral services for Mary Jo Jordan LaVaughn were held Saturday, Feb. 18 at Maddox Chapel Baptist Church with burial in New Community Cemetery in Hillsboro. The Rev. Tracy Gaither officiated.
She died February 15.

Mrs. LaVaughn was born to the late Johnny and Martha Jordan on April 4, 1933 in Jones County. She attended school in Chattanooga, Tenn. and at an early age began work as a domestic engineer. She retired after more than 30 years of work.
She married Ben LaVaughn on January 23, 1970. In 1970 she also joined Maddox Chapel Baptist Church where she served as secretary.

Two brothers, James Jordan and John Charlie Jordan, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Ben LaVaughn; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Sims of Jenkinsburg; sister, Mamie Kate Williams of Chattanooga, Tn.; grandchildren, Arthur Lee Sims, Jr., Bryant Sims, Coswell Sims; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Smith & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
