Grady B. Brooks
Grady Berry Brooks, 60, of Monticello, died Wednesday, February 22, at his residence.
Mr. Brooks was a native of Troop County. His parents were the late Grady Brooks and Norma Myrtle Bowel Brooks. He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Brooks moved to Jasper County more than 14 years ago from Lawrenceville after retiring as a foreman for the DeKalb County Road Maintenance Department. He was a deacon of Hillsboro Baptist Church. His brother, James Daniel Brooks, sisters, Geneva Brooks and Lamerle Brooks, and long-time friend, Robert Jacob Elwine, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include by his brothers, Ervin Brooks of Winder and Larry Brooks of Florida; and six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Hillsboro Baptist Church, with burial in Fullerton Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Steve Brock and Bobby Sauls officiated.
Pallbearers were Jim Presley, Billy Dunn, Jim Darity, Anthony Brown, Wayne Greene, Clay Coldwell, Kenneth Tillman and Billy Phillips, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Tate Turner, Marvin McMichael, Felton Tillman, Billy Phillips, III, and Sammy Blackwell.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Jordan Funeral Home.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
