Evelyn Moore Hodge

Evelyn Essie Moore Hodge, 94, of Mansfield, died Friday, March 3, at her residence.

Evelyn Hodge was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Alfred Perry Moore and Lizzie Catherine Fincher Moore. She was pianist for the New Rocky Creek Baptist Church and served as Sunday school teacher for the Junior Class. Her hobbies included crocheting and embroidery work and she loved to fish.

Her daughter, Judith C. Hodge, son-in-law, Charles E. Lewis, two brothers and three sisters, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her loving husband of 71 years, Carroll Hodge of Mansfield; daughters and son-in-law, Marie Lewis of Mansfield and Sara and Ken Reece of Athens; grandchildren, Joan Champion, David Lewis, Cheryl Sumner and Kimberly Combahee; great-grandchildren, Steven Champion, Kevin Champion, Larissa Champion, Josh Lewis and Chris Gardner; and great-great-grandchildren, K.C. Champion, Gracie Champion, Ryan Champion, Caitlin Gardner, Alex Worley and Alexis Worley.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 5, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, with burial in Prospect United Methodist Church cemetery. The Rev. Randy Reese and Chaplain Glen Kohlhagen officiated.

Pallbearers were David Lewis, Steven Champion, Kevin Champion, Larry Champion, Charles Mason and Ken Reece.

Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
