Several Arrests Are Made
A criminal arrest warrant was requested by the Jasper County Board of Education against Charles and Crystal Thompson of Monticello, for violation of the state law regarding mandatory education of minors. The state law stipulates that a child or children between the ages of six and 16 must be enrolled and attend a public school, a private school, or an approved home study program.
On March 27 an arrest warrant was issued for the Thompsons, however, as of Tuesday, April 4, it had not been served.
Other arrests during the period March 27 through April 3, as reported by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, are as follows:
•Sheila Michelle Kirkpatrick, Monticello—reckless driving, aggressive driving, cruelty to children.
•Bart Wesley Ray, Monticello-theft by conversion.
•Michael Lewis Williams, Madison—driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane.
•Roy Lee Ramey, Covington—Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant.
•Don Frank Whitaker, Jr., Eatonton—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
•Aubrey Wayne Savage, Conyers—possession, manufacture, distribution of a controlled substance, fishing without a license, fishing without a wildlife management area stamp on a public fishing area.
Also, during the same period deputies with the JCSO served seven warrants and 38 civil processes. They conducted six traffic stops resulting in three citations and three warnings.
In addition, deputies responded to 161 calls for service as follows:
Twenty-nine, subject needs officer; 18, traffic accident; 16, suspicious person/vehicle; 12, activated alarm; nine, assist motorist/keys, six, assist motorist/other.
Also, five each, domestic, livestock/carcass in road, juvenile complaint, vandalism, argument, transport; three each, dog complaint, intoxicated driver, 911 hang-up, fire; two each, speeding auto, escort, welfare check, 4-wheeler complaint, child custody, discharge firearms, loud music/noise, assist EMS, threatening/harassing phone calls, abandoned vehicle.
Also, one each, fight, theft, mental patient assault, fireworks, trouble unknown, road hazard, person refusing to leave, trespassing.
