Cougars Post Season Totals
A trip to the second round of the state playoffs will usually guarantee some standout performances from players on your team.
The 2006 Piedmont Academy baseball team was no exception as several players excelled for coach Danny Camp’s Diamond Cougars.
Piedmont finished second in Region 1-AA this spring and advanced to the Class AA quarterfinals before falling in a best-of-three series to Memorial Day of Savannah.
By the time the season was over, the Cougars had won 18 games and will return all but one player for 2007.
The following are official team statistics compiled for the 2006 season:
•Randy Reagin, .416 batting average (team high), 37 hits, 27 runs, 32 RBI (team high) and four home runs (team high).
•Zack Kenny, .375 batting average, 27 hits, 18 RBI, 17 walks (team high) and seven doubles.
•Cris Jackson, .367 batting average, 26 runs, 36 hits, one home run and 18 RBI.
•Joey Schroeder, .351 batting average, eight stolen bases, 25 RBI (second highest for team), three triples (team high) and two home runs.
•Clint Fields, .329 batting average, 21 RBI (third highest for team).
•Taylor Jackson, .310 batting average, 28 runs, 14 RBI, 14 stolen bases (team high).
•Andrew Stevenson, .270 batting average, 21 runs, eight doubles (team high).
In addition to the offensive standouts, several Piedmont players did well on the pitcher’s mound this spring including:
•Brent Brown (the team’s lone senior): 4-1 record, 32 innings pitched, 25 strikeouts.
•Cris Jackson, 6-6 record, 56 strikeouts, 62 innings pitched.
•Kenny, 4-0 record, 37 innings pitched, 31 strikeouts.
•Reagin, 3-1 record, 14 innings pitched, 11 strikeouts.
Camp said his returning players will compete on a summer league team in coming weeks to begin preparations for next spring.
