Wofford T. DeFoor

Wofford Taft DeFoor, Jr., 68, of Eastanollee died Saturday, June 17, at the Habersham Medical Center in Demorest.

The son of late Wofford Tate DeFoor, Sr., and Edna Camp DeFoor, he was born September 30, 1937 in Stephens County where he lived all of his life. He retired from Georgia Power Company after 34 years, where he worked as a field estimator and was also a member of the ambassadors of Georgia Power.

He was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Toccoa, was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years and was a member of the Men’s Brotherhood at the church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Army Reserves for seen years and was a member of the Toccoa Elk’s Club and former member of the Toccoa Jaycees.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Deaton DeFoor of Eastanollee; son and daughter-in-law, John and Jennifer DeFoor of Toccoa; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nannette and John Brown of Monticello and Debbie and Derrell Chatham of Eastanollee; six grandchildren, Erin Chatham, Andy Chatham, Rusty Chatham, Angelia Brown, John Deaton DeFoor and Robert Taft DeFoor; a brother and sisiter-in-law, Jimmy and Aurena DeFoor of Gainesville, and two nephews and a niece.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 19, at 5 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Toccoa with the Revs. Dr. Jim Nelson, Dr. John Brown Roger McDonald and David Turner officiating. Burial was to be in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Acree-Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
