Marijuana Bust is Made
Last Thursday, August 24, the Governor’s Task Force for Narcotics was conducting a helicopter flight over Jasper County in accordance with regularly scheduled flights looking for the presence of marijuana growing, when the task force spotted plants growing at an area on Goolsby Road.
A search warrant was subsequently issued and investigators and deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office along with state agents seized 20 marijuana plants, eight marijuana seedlings, methamphetamine, digital scales, firearms and packaging materials at the location.
Hadley Pietro Jackson of the same address was arrested and charged with manufacturing of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drugs not in original container, and possession of drug related objects.
Mr. Jackson was released over the weekend after posting a $30,000 bond.

Other arrests made by the JCSO for the period of August 21 through 28, include the following:
•Javier Perez Lopez, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving.
•Christopher Eugene Rouse, Jackson—burglary (two counts).
•Melvin Lee Dudley, Covington—child support bench warrant (two counts).
•Charles Dewayne Straka, Pell City, Alabama—probation violation.
Also, during this period deputies with the JCSO served 18 warrants and 52 civil processes. They conducted 41 traffic stops resulting in 22 warnings and 19 citations.and responded to 115 calls for service including 19 subject needs officer, five theft, and two burglary.
In addition, during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department reported the following arrests:
•Carl Hilton, Jr., Hillsboro—carrying a concealed weapon, driving unsafe or improperly equipped vehicle, expired license and registration, license requirements violation.
•Thomas David Smith, Mans-field—public drunkenness.
•Thomas Robert Lewis, Con-yers—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain land, registration violation, furnishing or possession of alcohol by persons under 21 years of age.
•Sabrina Turner, Monticello—hold for warrant in Rockdale County.
• Benita Garcia Hernandes, Newborn—driving without a license.
The MPD also responded to 94 calls for service including 19 stopping suspicious person or vehicle, 15 escort or convoy, two fight, two vandalism and one counterfeit.
