Jury Finds Ricky Still Guilty

Ricky Daniel Still was found guilty by a jury last week on one charge of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Mr. Still was sentenced to 20 years on the drug charge and ten years on the theft by receiving stolen property charge, to run concurrent with each other.

Upon serving five years of this sentence, the remainder may be served on probation providing he meets the conditions imposed. He was also fined $1,837. Mr. Still was found not guilty on two other counts of receiving stolen property.

Jurors for the trial were chosen Wednesday morning, and the case was heard Wednesday afternoon.

Court was not held Monday because of Yom Kippur, a Jewish holiday, and Tuesday was set aside for pleas.

Guilty pleas were offered by the following individuals for various charges, and they were sentenced accordingly: Thomas Marion Lowe, Michael Edward Thoma-son, Casey Gene Gaug, Kimbalie Blankenship, Erick Daniel Wilson, Ashley Lynn Batts, Waldo E. Brown, Jon Daniel Keele, David Issac Stroud, Dale Wesley Dockery, Joshau Craig Howell, Carl Johnson, Willie Benjamin, Anthony O’Neal Card, Derek Darnell Campbell, Linda Lou Long, and Yogi Yeomans.

Also, bench warrants were issued for those who did not answer when their case was called in court. They include Raymond H. Carter, Natasha Chatman, Cheryl Carpenter, Carey Ross, Tavares Jackson, Westlee Brook Whitley, Patrick Bennett Louviere, Jr., Kizzy Addrianna Walker, Jennifer Anne Weldon.

More than 100 cases were continued, and a few were nolle prossed and/or dead docketed.
