Probation Violators Reprimanded

Four individuals who had violated their probation had it modified or revoked last week and were sentenced in Jasper County Superior Court, with Judge Hugh Wingfield presiding, as follows:

•Michael Greenway absconded from probation and parole supervision and failed to report to his probation officer. He was ordered to enter the State Diversion Center for a minimum of four months or until released by the center director, and upon release return to the original terms and conditions of his probation.

•Joseph Steven Chandler failed to perform community service and had possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to serve 90 to 180 days in the state detention center, and upon release return to regular probation with original terms and conditions, plus fines.

•Willie N. Benjamin committed the offense of obstruction of an office and disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 90 to 180 days in the state detention center and upon release to return to unsupervised probation until his case expires on 1-1-08.

•William J. Toath had possession of illegal drugs. He was sentenced to 180 to 240 days in the state detention center, and upon release to return to regular probation with original terms and conditions, plus fines.

Also, according to Jasper County Chief Magistrate Judge Ken Jackson, the long holiday weekend was only marred by one warrant. This occurred when Dawn Marie Adams was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of battery, criminal trespass and cruelty to children.

According to official reports Ms. Adams, along with her two children, were invited to a Thanksgiving dinner where she became intoxicated and made threats with a Glock 45 caliber pistol.

Reports also indicated that she became physically violent and had to be forcibly removed by deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition, the JCSO reported the following arrests for the period of November 20-27:

•Ramond Gene Cannon, Monti-cello: DUI.

•William Redmon Cox, Mans-field—DUI, failure to maintain lane, headlight violation, turning violation.

•Shandrica Yvette Weaver, Jackson—DUI.

•James Edward Tuft, Haddock—terroristic threats.

•Larry Jim Johnson, Jr., Hephzibah—speeding, possession of marijuana less than one once.
During this period deputies with the JCSO also served nine warrants and 20 civil processes.

They conducted 32 traffic stops resulting in five citations and 27 warnings, and responded to 97 other calls for service, which included seven accidents, seven alarms, six vandalism of property, four discharge of firearms, three theft by taking, two dog disturbances, and two burglary.

The Monticello Police also made several arrests during this period, as follows:

•David Harold Robertson, Monticello—DUI, hit and run, open container.

•Michael Rooks, Monticello—public drunk.

•James Marty McClendon, Monticello—DUI, failure to stop at stop sign.

•Dean Gibson Kilby, Monticello—public drunk, open container.

•Donny Larmaan Parker, McDonough—driving on a suspended or revoked license, expired tag.

The MPD responded to 100 calls for service during this period, which included 39 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six accidents, four burglary, three crowd disbursement and one juvenile complaint.

Also, the Georgia State Patrol made the following two arrests:

•Tyrone Thurman, Monticello—driving on a suspended or revoked license, seatbelt violation.

•Terrance Antonia Bostic, Monticello—failure to appear Probate Court Bench Warrant.
