Businesses Sell Alcohol To a Minor
Agents with the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR), Alcohol and Tobacco Division visited nine establishments in Jasper County last Friday, and were able to make undercover buys at six locations.
The agents were checking for the underage sale of alcohol. Details of the operation were not complete Wednesday, but Charles Willey, a spokesman for the DOR, confirmed the businesses that were targeted and which were found in compliance.
Those that were cited will have to appear before a hearing officer and will likely face some sort of administrative action, said Mr. Willey.
Locations that revenue agents caught selling alcohol to a minor include DJ’s Bar & Grill in Monticello, and Larry’s 4-Way, Lakeview Restaurant, B&R One Stop, and Frank’s Restaurant in rural Jasper County.
Circle K in Monticello was targeted, said Mr. Willey, but agents were unable to make a buy there.
Also found in compliance were J&L Convenience and Cafe 142 on Pennington Road in Farrar.
The Department of Revenue does not typically bring criminal charges in cases such as these, that is left up to other enforcement agencies.
Some of the businesses that are named now operate under another name, but those are the names provided by the Department of Revenue.
