David L. Mitchell Pleads Guilty
David Lamar Mitchell pled guilty in five separate cases against him to charges of theft by shoplifting (three counts), burglary (two counts), criminal trespass (two counts), and theft by taking in a criminal session of Jasper Superior Court that convened Monday with Judge J. Lee Parrott, presiding.
After being scheduled for trial, Mr. Mitchell reached a plea agreement with the district attorney. Four charges against Mr. Mitchell—criminal damage to property, theft by taking, entering an auto and violation of the Georgia controlled substance act, were dropped. He was sentenced to 10 years with three to serve.
Seven other individuals pled guilty to charges and were sentenced as indicated below:
Bridgett Green to two counts of theft by taking—sentenced to three years probation and $632 in fines.
Karen Carvey to aggravated assault—sentenced to 12 months probation and $594 in fines.

Francis G. Leverette to failure to register as a sex offender—sentenced to 10 years probation plus fines.
Jeffery Alan Custer to failure to register as a sex offender—sentenced to 10 years probation and $1,382 in fines.
Tonya Swan-Engblom to battery—sentenced to 12 months probation and $344 in fines.
Rachel Martin to terroristic threats and acts and obstruction of officers—sentenced to two years probation and $337 in fines.
Walter Lance McFalls to terroristic threats and acts—sentenced to 12 months probation and $544 in fines.
Also, the following individuals failed to appear in court to answer charges and a bench warrant was issued for their arrest: Marquis Jackson, Alfonso Victrum, Jody Kneece, Kenya Leshun Williams, Quincy Bogan, Ruffie Thurman, Rufus Thurman, Richard Jackson, Michael Wioskowski, Cottrell Tyler, Jr., Oliver Jackson, Tiffany Lee Weaver, Nicholas Clark, Tony Ross, Sr., and Charlotte Diane Christian.
In addition, the charges were dropped in seven other cases, and some 68 cases were continued.
Jasper County Magistrate Court convened last Friday for criminal ordinance violation trials, with Judge Kenneth G. Jackson, presiding.
A guilty verdict was found in the following three cases with sentences as indicated:
Glen Edward Harris found guilty of criminal trespass—sentenced to 12 months probation and $270 in fines.
Jonathan Joyner found guilty of theft of utilities and posting of road names/numbers—fined $300.
Jonathan Jackson found guilty of solid waste violation—sentenced to 12 months probation and fined $300.
The following two individuals pled guilty to charges and were sentenced as indicated:
Tammy Ann Allen as a first offender to possession of marijuana less than one ounce—sentenced to 30 hours community service, three months of drug testing and fined $675.
Marion Perry to solid waste and driveway/culvert violations—sentenced to 12 months probation, 60 hours of community service and fined $435.
Also, Emory Jacobs failed to appear to answer to the charge of illegal burning of solid waste and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
In addition, one case was continued on the criminal calendar and one was dismissed on the civil calendar. In pre-warrant hearings, a warrant was denied in three instances.
