Ralph Lee Goins

Funeral services for Ralph Lee Goins, 41, of Monticello, are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 12 beginning at 2 p.m. at St. John C.M.E. Church with burial in South View Cemtery. Pastor Gloria Blue will officiate.

He died Wednesday, Oct. 3 in Trinity, N.C.

Mr. Goins was born November 19, 1965 in Cleveland, Ohio to Barbara G. Goins and the late Charles Goins, Sr. He attended Saint Adalbert School and Cleveland Central Catholic High School where he lettered in three sports. He also attended Lakeland College and Kent State University before graduating from the Police Academy in Macon.

Mr. Goins had served as a police officer for the Monticello and Locust Grove Police Departments. Additionally he served as deputy sheriff in Jasper and Pike Counties. He was most recently employed with Collins Industries of Jackson.

Mr. Goins was a member of Cory United Methodist Church in Cleveland, Ohio and visited St. John C.M.E. Church.

Survivors include his mother Barbara Goins of Monticello; brother, Charles Goins of Cleveland, Ohio; sons, Deontae Torain of Aurora, Col. and Jakobe Goins of Monticello; fiance, Mary Boykin of Monticello; nieces and nephew, Latoya Walker and Sheekela Goins, Charles Goins, Jr.; a great-niece, all of Cleveland; and a number of other relatives and friends.
