Linda S. Ellis

Linda S. Ellis, 65, of Spruce Pine, N.C. died Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Memorial Campus at Mission Hospital.

A native of Mitchell County she was the wife of Robert Wayne Ellis and the daughter of the late Leonard Franklin Shipman. Her mother and step-father, who reside in Monticello, are Robert and Belle Pittman Shipman Greer.

She was employed for a number of years at Hampshire Hosiery until she started her own business, Linda’s Hairstyling, where she worked for several years. She was a member of Pine Branch Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Children’s Worship Teacher for a number of years.

Mrs. Ellis’s main interests always had been her family, her two grandchildren; Wayne Palmer Ellis and India Leigh Ellis, her church, and enjoying being a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her mother and step-father are her husband of 46 years, Robert Wayne Ellis; two sons: Lee Ellis and wife, Amy, of Spruce Pine, N.C., Robert Eric Ellis and wife, Brenda, of Boone, N.C.; a sister, Janice Chaffin Jarrett and husband, Ralph, of Monticello; a brother, Gary Leonard Shipman, of Ecola, and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services were held Monday, Nov. 5, at Pine Branch Baptist Church. Pastor Steve Williams and Rev. Jerry McKinney officiated. A privateburial service was held at the Pine Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
